What it means
When couples prefer one combined ceremony, a shared symbolic act can represent the joining of two heritages — for example pairing elements both families hold dear, a joint lamp or candle lighting, or readings and blessings from each tradition. The aim is genuine representation of both, chosen together with the families and officiants.
What happens
- 1Choose symbols meaningful to both sides and agree them with both officiants.
- 2Weave each tradition's blessing or gesture into one flowing ceremony.
- 3Explain each element in the program so all guests can follow along.
This explanation is under review by a religious authority — a companion to, not a replacement for, your officiant.
